Age Groups

In accordance with Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth baseball, age groups are based off of the age a player is on May 1 of any given year. For the Fall season, this is May 1, 2026. Here is the official age chart: Baseball Age Chart.

For our purposes, these are the youngest and oldest birthdays per division in 14th Ward. All divisions are coed.

What about playing "up" or "down" a level?

We want everyone to have a positive experience and be challenged at 14th Ward. If your child is very advanced for his/her age, and you think it would benefit everyone to have him/her play in an older age group, register your child for the standard age group, then please enter "yes" on the registration form in response to the question about playing up. You will also need to select an evaluation date if your player is new to the division where you wish them to play. Team placement will depend on the draft process.

Having players play down to a younger age group has more potential problems, but in some cases where children are born late in the year, are brand new to the sport, and/or are on the small side for their age, we may be able to allow a child to play in the next lower age group. Please contact [email protected] to inquire about having your child play down.

Formats and Rules

Game formats and rules vary by age division. Please see the first section in your player's division page for specific formats and rules:
